The 1st Training of Trainers course hosted by the University of Sfax was a success!
Sixty participants, including lecturers and researchers from the Tunisian partner universities, attended the training of trainers course on the digitization of doctoral training in the humanities and social sciences. The three days of training took place from 24 to 26 April 2024, with the aim of strengthening the digital skills of trainers and promoting an innovative pedagogical approach in doctoral schools in the humanities and social sciences.
The 1st day of training began with a welcome by Prof. Faiez Gargouri of the University of Sfax, Vice-president and local coordinator of the project, Prof. Sihem Najjar of the University of La Manouba, scientific coordinator of the RAQMYAT project, and Ms. Silvia Marchionne, project manager at UNIMED and coordinator of the RAQMYAT project.
As part of this first Training of Trainers course, participants engaged in practical activities focusing on several themes aimed at enriching teaching and learning methods by integrating digital practices.
“The project aims to train a core group of trainers who can in turn train other trainers and support doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences using an innovative, skills-based teaching approach”, says Silvia Marchionne, project coordinator.
Participants benefited from the expertise of experts and teachers from the University of Sfax, La Manouba and the Virtual University of Tunis, who led the three days of training.
The first day was devoted to the theme of “Digital Cartography and the Dissemination of Geographic Information”, with experts Pr. Hedi Zenati, Assistant Professor of Cartography and GIS, Faculty of Letters, Arts and Humanities at the University of La Manouba and Pr. Riadh Bouaziz, Assistant Professor of Cartography at the University of Sfax.
The second day focused on the theme of “Using digital technology to promote the professional integration of doctoral students”. Through practical workshops and an innovative, participative teaching approach based on design thinking, experts from the University of Sfax, Dr. Mohamed Belhaj, Director of the Student Entrepreneur Pole, University of Sfax, and Ms Donia Louizi, Senior Assistant in Entrepreneurship, University of Sfax, led the discussions and the working groups of the 60 participants.
Finally, the course ended with a focus on the use of modern IT tools in the digitization of the humanities and social sciences. Discussions also focused on the challenges of open access and training engineering.
The Sfax course was the first in a series of face-to-face and online courses designed to deepen the knowledge of Tunisian trainers on the themes mentioned. The next course will take place in Tunis, hosted by the University of Tunis El Manar, from 25 to 27 June 2024.
