The doctoral days, organised on 10 and 11 September 2024 at the Faculty of Law and Political Science in Sousse as part of the RAQMYAT project, highlighted the importance of digital technologies in doctoral training.
The event brought together several speakers who shared their perspectives on technological advances and their impact on research and teaching, particularly in the humanities and social sciences (HSS).
The event was opened by Professors Asma Ben Abdallah and Ouajdi Korbaa, who emphasised the importance of the RAQMYAT project for university research in Tunisia. The local coordinator, Prof. Sonia Ayachi Ghannouchi, presented the project’s progress.
Digitisation and generative AI
The first morning began with a presentation by Wahid Gadhgadhi, from the Centre National Universitaire de Documentation Scientifique et Technique (CNUDST), on digital services for researchers. Prof. Abdellatif Mrabet then explored innovations in digitisation applied to the field of archaeology. This was followed by a video conference with Dr. Lilia Cheniti on open sciences and the challenges they entail.
The afternoon focused on generative artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with a panel of experts presenting the ELM ministerial project. They discussed the integration of AI tools in research, highlighting opportunities and challenges.
Digital skills and inclusion
The second day started with a presentation by Prof. Sonia Ayachi Ghannouchi on e-learning. Prof. Fethi Hamdi then discussed the interaction between law and digital, while Dr. Hajer Zorgati explained how to design a questionnaire and analyse quantitative data using Google Forms. Mahmoud Menyaoui presented interview techniques and qualitative analysis, with a demonstration of the NVIVO tool.
Finally, Dr. Imed Bennour from the Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Sousse (ENISO) concluded by talking about inclusion in higher education, emphasising the importance of ensuring that technology is accessible to all.
