Four years of collaboration for the digital transformation of doctoral education in Tunisia. Organisation of the RAQMYAT project final conference (10 and 11 October 2024 in Tunis)
The RAQMYAT project «Digital Strategies for Doctoral Training in the Humanities and Social Sciences in Tunisia» is preparing to celebrate the culmination of four years of international collaboration with a final conference to be held on 10 and 11 October 2024 at the La Manouba University Campus, in Tunis.
This project has played a crucial role in the transformation of higher education in Tunisia by putting in place strategies to modernise doctoral training in the humanities and social sciences, strengthening the skills of academic staff in the digital humanities and promoting the interaction of doctoral students with the socio-economic environment on a national and international scale.
RAQMYAT, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus plus programme and coordinated by UNIMED with the University of La Manouba as scientific coordinator, brings together seven Tunisian public universities (University of La Manouba, University of Tunis-El Manar, University of Sfax, University of Sousse, University of Kairouan and Virtual University of Tunis), the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and European partners: University of Vienna, University of Granada and the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme.
The opening ceremony of the final conference will be held on 10 October at the La Manouba University Campus in Tunis and will be attended by the President of the University of La Manouba, Prof. Ameur Cherif, the President of the University of Sfax, Prof. Ahmed Hadj Kacem, the President of the Virtual University of Tunis, Prof. Slim Ben Saoud, the President of the University of Tunis, Prof. Slim Idriss, the President of the University of Kairouan, Prof. Hedi Dhouibi, the Secretary General of UNIMED and and former President of the University of Tunis, Prof. Hmaïed Ben Aziza, the initiator of the RAQMYAT project , Prof. Jouhaina Gherib from the University of La Manouba, the Director of the Doctoral Schools at the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ms. Arbia Ben Othmane, Mr. Rajeh KHEMIRI, in charge of international aid and cooperation at the European Union Delegation in Tunisia, and the Director of UNIMED, Mr. Marcello Scalisi.
The opening will also see the participation of the Coordinator of the Erasmus plus Tunisia National Office, Ms. Nesrine Baklouti, the Director of International Projects and Networks, Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation at the University of Granada, Ms. Irene Pedreira Romero, and Ms. Angela Meyer, Project Officer at the University of Vienna.
The event will provide an opportunity to present the main results of the RAQMYAT project, highlighting the digital strategies for doctoral schools developed during the project period and future prospects for sustaining the project’s achievements.
