The RAQMYAT project was inaugurated by a seminar on “Digital Humanities in the Euro-Mediterranean Space” held in the Carthage Al Hadatha amphitheatre at the University of Manouba, with more than 50 participants, university leaders, teachers-researchers, directors of doctoral schools or chairs of sectoral Tunisian thesis committees, representing the various partners in the project. During three round tables, the speakers questioned the upheavals induced by the digital revolution on research training in humanities and social sciences. Presentations on the digital humanities were first proposed, as they profoundly but variously modify the modalities of research in the European academic world. In a second stage, projects undertaken at the partner universities in Tunisia were highlighted. A final round table addressed the place of digital in training, especially doctoral courses, in Tunisia and Europe. The interventions and discussions focused on the very notion of “digital humanities” by highlighting its conceptual complexity and raising its heuristic and epistemological issues. Some of the day’s interventions are ticketed on this booklet. The partners, the directors of the doctoral schools and the presidents of the thesis commissions met the following morning for a presentation of the institutions involved in the project, its objectives and expectations.

This morning was also dedicated to the presentation and collective discussion on the first two work packages devoted to the status of digital resources and practices in doctoral training in Tunisian HSS and the development and implementation the digital strategies of doctoral schools. The following afternoon and day brought together only the project partners. These days were devoted to the presentation of the other actions planned in the framework of the project, the timetable of the project and questions relating to the administrative and financial management of the project as well as the partnership agreements. The three days provided an opportunity for many multilateral and bilateral exchanges. This launch event was relayed by the partners via social networks and their dedicated sites but also in the press.
