The report includes a diagnosis conducted to identify gaps in the training of doctoral students and the needs of teachers to improve their ability to supervise students. Particular attention is given to the content of doctoral program curricula. The report addresses three aspects:
- The knowledge and skills of Tunisian SHS doctoral students and supervisors in digital matters; the material and human resources of the institutions in this regard.
- Local initiatives in the use of digital tools in doctoral research training and potential barriers to these practices (material and pedagogical).
- Local initiatives in the use of digital tools for the professional integration of students.
This report also includes a set of recommendations enabling each institution to enhance and strengthen the role of each doctoral school and each doctoral school director, in preparation for the development of WP2’s digital strategies.
Identification of Digital Resources and Best Practices for Doctoral Studies in Tunisia
تحديد الموارد الرقمية والممارسات الجيدة في تكوين الدكتوراه في تونس – تقرير WP1 – نوفمبر 2020
The seven Tunisian universities partnering in the RAQMYAT project have developed a digital strategy for doctoral training in Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH). Each strategy was designed according to the thematic specialties and constraints of the respective doctoral school within the partner Tunisian universities. These strategies aim to outline development perspectives in three distinct areas, particularly focusing on improving the quality of doctoral programs in SSH by better integrating digital practices into methodological research training. Furthermore, the strategies aim to identify action plans to provide students with better support in developing their transversal skills (soft skills) through digital tools, enhancing their employability.
A summary of the organizational structure of the doctoral schools and the priority areas of the strategy has been defined for each university. Please find the summary of the seven strategies: Summary of DIGITAL STRATEGIES for Doctoral Training in Social Sciences and Humanities in Tunisia

The objective of Work Package 3 is to develop online educational resources that are multidisciplinary and multilingual, easily accessible locally, and sustainable.
The implementation of this online training offered on the UVT platform represents an innovation that modernizes doctoral training in Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in Tunisia and aligns it with international standards.
These eight programs enhance and multiply the training impact of the project. They have been and will be used as pedagogical tools for the local training of academic and administrative staff at Tunisian universities, and serve as a training resource for other staff members of higher education institutions in Tunisia not part of the consortium and beyond the partnership.
To address the diversity of levels and needs, four types of programs have been created (introduction, multidisciplinary deepening, disciplinary deepening, and preparation for professional integration). Each program consists of 12 sequences (equivalent to 2 hours of training each, totaling 24 hours per program), containing various resources: texts and videos, exercises, tutorials, webographies, and bibliographies.
The courses are available on the platform of the Virtual University of Tunis https://research.uvt.tn/ and will soon be available on other platforms.

The Tunisian universities involved in the RAQMYAT project participated in two Training of Trainers sessions aimed at establishing a significant group of teacher-researchers and supervisors within each doctoral school of the partner universities. These individuals will be capable of providing transversal doctoral-level training, which can be included in the digital strategies of each doctoral school. The two reports from these training sessions provide a detailed overview of the topics covered and the target groups involved.
1st Training of Trainers at the University of Sfax | April 24 – 26, 2024 (post-event news – report – agenda)
2nd Training of Trainers at the University of Tunis El Manar, Gammarth | June 25 – 27, 2024 (post-event news – report – agenda)
The summer schools and doctoral workshops are at the heart of the RAQMYAT project. The two summer schools (Tunis – October 2023, and Vienna – September 2024) facilitated exchanges between teacher-researchers and students, creating a stimulating environment conducive to the development of research and the experimentation of new digital modalities in doctoral training.

Doctoral Workshops
The doctoral workshops aimed to strengthen the links between doctoral schools and their socio-professional environment. Organized at each university and bringing together the target doctoral schools, these events aimed to have groups of doctoral students work for three days on issues of national, regional, or local interest related to digital transitions in Tunisia.
